Virtual care, or tele-health, involves using video calls to provide our services remotely. During these interesting times as our physical clinic remains closed, you can still connect with our healthcare professionals. As with in-person care, these virtual treatments will follow the same safety, and effective standards as outlined in our various governing colleges.

We provide Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, and Music Therapy virtually. Virtual treatments are for anyone seeking assistance in managing their jaw/facial pain, clicking, ear ringing/fullness, headaches, stress, or other related symptoms.

To book a session, simply call 416-972-6279 to leave a message, email clinic@thejawcentre.com, or submit a request form online by clicking here. One of our therapists will contact you as soon as we can. You will have a brief conversation with one of our therapists to help decide if virtual care is appropriate for your situation. In order to book your first virtual session, you will need to provide a credit card online to be billed and have an active email on file, these items will be discussed prior to booking. We are currently using the Jane Online Appointment Software, the same system we use to schedule patient appointments. This software is secure and meets PHIPA and PIPEDA privacy requirements - no video or audio will ever be recorded. 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time, you will receive an email with the secured link to your session. We recommend for your first session to log on 10-15 minutes prior as you may need to install the viewing app and you will be directed to read and confirm a virtual consent. Any required paperwork for new patients will also be emailed to you ahead of time. This software works best with the Chrome web browser. If you run into any technical difficulties at any step of the process, please call or email your therapist.

Your session will be done in real-time, one-on-one, with the ability to speak and see one another. This will allow for an accurate assessment, advice, and guided care. Your session may include: • Listening to your current concerns and taking a thorough health history • Observing your ranges of motion, function, and movement patterns • Answering any questions you may have • Guiding you through and demonstrating exercises and stretches in real-time • Explaining and practicing how to perform self-care soft tissue treatments • Providing instruction and guidance on lifestyle and ergonomic change • Modifying or progressing current exercises or stretches • Explaining your condition thoroughly and where your pain is coming from • Prescribing exercises and a comprehensive treatment plan • Encouraging and training others at home with you who may be able to assist in your treatment • Recommending and offering information on other helpful equipment or resources (ie. ice, mouth guards, etc)

Our therapists are healthcare professionals and have the knowledge to diagnose, treat, and educate in a variety of different ways. Virtual treatments have a lot of the same benefits as in-person sessions. Of course we still value our face-to-face and hands on interactions with our patients. However, our services are more than just manual therapy, and the range of our expertise is not limited to only our hands. Our ears and what lies between them is one of our therapists best tools. Evidence shows that patient education around self-care and proper exercises has the ability to reduce pain and other symptoms. Literature has also shown that virtual treatments have similar reliability in assessments and treatment effectiveness. By actively listening we can learn a lot about your individual needs.

Yes, the majority of health benefit plans in Ontario cover virtual sessions for Chriopractic, Physiotherapy, and Psychotherapy care. These insurers include, but are not limited to, Sunlife, Manulife, Great West Life, WSIB, and some Motor Vehicle Accident clients. We always recommend that you contact your insurance company to confirm your coverage details before booking a session.
